Blog: Witches Fingers and Pretzel Mummies
This is such a fun recipe. Your friends will think you spent hours making these awesome Halloween treats…only you’ll know just how easy they really are.
I love sugar and salt together. The salty pretzel under the sweet white chocolate is the MOST scrumptious tasting treat.
For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
1 Package Long Pretzel Rods
1 Package White Chocolate Chips
½ Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Green Food Coloring Paste
Pour ½ bag of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and place in the microwave. Set the microwave at 50 percent power for one minute. Stir the chocolate chips after one minute. I have noticed that when I melt chocolate chips in the microwave, the chips seem to hold their ‘chip like’ shape so you need to take them out after one minute and stir them so that you can actually see how much more time they will need in order to melt.
(these have been in the microwave and as soon as I stirred they were completely melted.)
Return the chips to the microwave for intervals of about 15 seconds, stirring each time. As you stir, the residual heat from the melted chocolate will melt any remaining un-melted pieces.
Dip pretzels in the melted chocolate. I found it was easier to rest the pretzel rod on the side of the bowl and use a spoon to bring the chocolate to the pretzel.
Make sure you only cover about 2/3 of the pretzel…you want to leave a bit for a handle. I set mine on parchment paper/wax paper to dry.
Place some of the melted white chocolate into a small plastic bag; clip a small hole in the corner. Zigzag the chocolate across the body and top of head to make ‘mummy wrapping’. (The parchment paper is great for catching the extra chocolate.) I forgot the wrap on the heads on the first few…they were still real cute!
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in microwave, using the directions from above. Place the melted semi-sweet chocolate in a clean plastic bag, cut a VERY small corner, make eyes and mouth. If you are an artist, you can make all kinds of crazy, scary, creepy faces.

Using the last ½ of the white chocolate chips; follow instructions for melting from above. Add green food coloring to the melted chips to make desired color. I used Wilton’s green food coloring paste. You just dip a toothpick into the bottle and then into the frosting. Stir really well so that you can tell the color; repeat if you want a darker color.
Dip the pretzels into the chocolate like the mummies. Add a sliced almond for fingernail then use a toothpick to add knuckles.
Here are the final results!
I had some white chocolate left over so I tried making some ghosts…I think they are pretty cute!
